A huge congratulations to our Boys Swim Team for capturing 1st place overall in the American Suburban League! What an outstanding achievement and a true reflection of your focus, discipline, and drive throughout the season. We are incredibly proud of both teams and the way you represent our school with excellence. Today’s Black History Month quote by Martin Luther King Jr., brought to us by our school Nurse, Mrs. Brown.
Martin Luther King Junior once said that “Darkness cannot drive out darkness, only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate, only love that can do that.” This resonates with Mrs. Brown because it emphasizes that negative and prejudice can only be overcome by positivity and goodness. This collective empathy, which is one of roots of our Greenhouse, universally humbles us to recognize that we never know what the person next to us may be going through or experiencing, so to be the light for any darkness around makes the difference and why our culture is so strong. Always be kind! Let this quote carry us into the day. Let us be light. Be the sunshine that sets the tone for those around us. Let’s have our Greenhouse Glow! Thanks!

Rita Dove, the United State’s youngest poet laureate, once said that “There are times in life when, instead of complaining, you do something about your complaints.” Rita Dove was born in Akron and went to Miami University…these words resonated with Mrs. Antol as it is solutions focused and reflects our root of innovation and critical thinking in The Greenhouse. We are a collective mindset of being problem solvers, not problem finders, and this is what sets our Green Standard as a school and community. Many innovative products and businesses are a result of solutions to people's complaints! Is there something in your life that you could make better? Could your solution help others? Let’s take a minute and think about what we are going to make better today. What solutions are you going to find or put into action to help others? Thanks, and Go Greenmen!

Today’s Black History Month Quote is from Nelson Mandela, former South African President who helped bring an end to Apartheid: “May your choices reflect your hopes, not your fears.” This quote is brought to us by Ms. Nenadal! She connects with this quote because sometimes we live within boundaries that we choose for ourselves. If we hope and we dream and have trust and have faith, we have unlimited potential and infinite options for our future. Let this quote motivate us to dream and believe in ourselves and our potential today! Thanks, and Go Greenmen!

Today’s Black History Month Quote is: “You don’t have to cry. Life is a Carnival (to be celebrated) and sorrows go away with a song in your heart.” from her song “La Vida Es Un Carnaval” This quote is brought to us by Profe Brancazio! She admires Celia Cruz, the "Queen of Salsa," for her electrifying spirit, wisdom, and powerful voice. Her quotes often reflect her philosophy of finding joy despite the hardships that are a part of life. From spirituals in the U.S. to Salsa in the Caribbean, music has historically been a tool for survival, resistance, and healing. Let this quote provide us with some inspiration as we deepen our roots of resilience in the Greenhouse. Let our lives be celebrated today and everyday to drive positivity and a great mindset for our day! Go Greenmen!

The Aurora Hockey Team will compete in the Baron Cup final for the first time since 2017, after defeating Solon and Chagrin Falls this week. Goalie Max Stefano posted a save percentage of over 90%, Jared Janzig contributed 6 goals and 2 assists, and Kale Hajek scored an overtime game-winner against Solon. Jonny Janzig, Max Schecterman, and Ian Gable also contributed offensively in both wins. The Greenmen will face Westlake at 1 p.m. at the Brooklyn Rec Center on Saturday.
Today's Black History Month quote is "Be not afraid of discomfort. If you can't put yourself in a situation where you are uncomfortable, then you will never grow. You will never change. You'll never learn.” by New York Times bestselling author, Jason Reynolds.
This quote resonates with Mrs. Taylor, because she deeply admires Jason Reynolds’ work as an author; he doesn't just write to tell a story, he writes to leave a lasting impact on his readers, hoping they will carry that spark out to change society. His words resonate with me because, as an educator and a human being, I know how much courage it truly takes to step away from what is safe and familiar. It’s a meaningful reminder that if we genuinely aspire to grow and evolve, we have to be willing to embrace that friction; leaving our comfort zones behind is often the only way to move toward a better version of ourselves and our world.
Let's keep this quote in mind as we move through the day. Leave your comfort zones to make a better version of yourself. It helps grow our Greenhouse and each other.

Today's Black History Month quote is "You may not control all the events that happen to you, but you can decide not to be reduced by them.” by Maya Angelou. This quote resonates with Mrs. Gentile, because we are never able to control how others see or treat us, but we are always able to control how we feel about ourselves. It's important to never let someone who does not deserve our light try to diminish it. We all just need to sparkle more! Let's keep this quote in mind as we move through the day. Keep your light shining bright, embrace our Root of resilience. Make it a Great Day, and Go Greenmen!

Today's Black History Month quote is "Failure is an important part of your growth and developing resilience. Don't be afraid to fail.” by Michelle Obama.
This quote resonates with Mrs. Hartland. Mrs. Hartland connects with this quote because we all need to be reminded that instead of focusing on the fact that you failed at something, be proud that you tried. Try again.
Let's keep this quote in mind as we move through the day. Making mistakes is part of the process that we value in Our Greenhouse. We focus on this process versus the product. Be proud of what you try to do today. Embrace making mistakes as part of the growth process. Thanks, and Go Greenmen!

Today's quote is ""You can’t hate the person next to you when you’re laughing and dancing together.” by Jean Batiste.
This quote resonates with Madame Cook. Spoken like a true New Orleanian, Batiste encourages us to love one another and to unite through the universal language of music. In a world that is so divided, we need to find joyful moments to unite us.

Congratulations to the cheer competition team for qualifying for the state competition last night at regionals! Good Luck at states!
Our very first black history quote comes to us from Amanda Gorman, the youngest inaugural poet in our nation's history. Dr. Pach chose a quote from Amanda Gorman's poem, "The Hill We Climb", that reads
"For there is always light, if only we’re brave enough to see it. If only we are brave enough to be it.”
Dr. Pach shared that this quote is significant to her because it is a daily affirmation. It suggests that excellence isn't just about grades or sports; it's about the moral courage to be a positive force in a community. She enjoys that the quote calls attention to agency, reinforcing that individuals do not have to wait for a leader to arrive; they have the power to embody the change and kindness to make an impact with intention in every moment, everyday.
As you head to class, take a moment to critically think about those words and how they might apply to your own journey. Have a great day, Aurora!
